Surah As-Sajdah (The Prostration) 1. Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 2. The revelation of the Book (this Qur'an) is from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists) in which there is not doubt! 3. Or say they: "He (Muhammad ) has fabricated it?"
Allah Swt. berfirman: Alif lam mim.
The Quran's initial letters have been one of its more curious aspects. Some suras are introduced with initial letters like "Qaf" and "Alif-Lam-Meem:" What the initial letters represent was a mystery until the manifestation of code 19.When code 19 became manifest, it was understood that the initial letters had a significant role with reference to the miracle of 19.
Another theory surrounding the meaning of Alif Laam Meem is that it represents an abbreviation of Allah's names, with 'Alif' symbolizing Allah, 'Laam' as Lateef and 'Meem' denoting Majeed— 3 of Allah's 99 names.
Pickthall: Alif. Lam. Mim. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture. That which is revealed unto thee from thy Lord is the Truth, but most of mankind believe not. Yusuf Ali: A.L.M.R. These are the signs (or verses) of the Book: that which hath been revealed unto thee from thy Lord is the Truth; but most men believe not. Shakir: Alif Lam Mim Ra
